Manuals and stops
Stop is a group of pipes sharing the same sound character. Tone pitch of the stop is specified by foot numbers: 8' means base pitch, lower number (e.g. 4') means higher pitch, higher number (e.g. 16') means lower pitch. Organ has separate set of stops for each manual (keyboard). Several construction categories of stops can be distinguished, see List of organ stop categories.
